Healthy Teeth for your Dog

Filed under: Cats — Catherine V. Testaratti @ 6:47 pm

Who would think that your job as a dog owner would involve brushing your dog’s teeth? Well, dog’s can have bad breath just as people do. When you brush your dog’s teeth, then you can enjoy those little doggy kisses with fresh breath, not doggy breath.

As with people, dogs can suffer from the same dental issues as their owners. We can eliminate the same problems that we have by just giving them a good brushing weekly. Tackle that plaque and tarter buildup and give them shiny teeth with minty breath and brush away.

Brushing your dog’s teeth is easier than you think. I have yet to meet a spit and rinse dog so make sure that you purchase doggie toothpaste at the pet store. In the dog pet supplies section, you can also find toothbrushes or finger brushes.

As we play with our dogs, we are throwing Frisbee’s, sticks and other objects for our pets to retrieve. These things can easily break your dog’s teeth. Regularly checking your dogs teeth can eliminate problems, and save on large vet bills.

Without a doggy dentist, most broken teeth will usually result in an infection for your dog. Infections can lead to other health problems for your adored furry friend so be sure he receives proper care right away if there is an injury. Keeping your family pet healthy will ensure a long happy life.

Broken teeth can cause infections in the mouth that can also lead to bad breath. Remember that when you are brushing your dog’s teeth, that you check regularly for anything that doesn’t look right. Act immediately to make sure that the infection gets under control quickly.

Always use caution when playing with your dog. As we have mentioned, broken teeth can cause serious infection which can be harmful to your beloved dog, so play fetch and catch with your dog, but don’t be careless. You dog will love you for it.

If you are just not sure, it never hurts to hit the dog pet supplies section at your local vet or pet store. There are many safe items on the market that are also age appropriate so read the labels. Remember that dog’s love to chew things up so avoid things with buttons or other items they can choke on.

Remember that puppies are big chewers as their baby teeth are falling out and their canines are coming in. Keep a good supply of chew toys around by regularly visiting the dog pet supplies in the vet or pet store. Variety will keep them interested and you will be helping them grow healthy teeth.
